ILNYSW is a new educational and social justice campaign by STARR NYC. ILNYSW has 2 main objectives:
To defend the rights and history of Sex Workers, especially those on the margins. Those rights include:
Fighting for full decriminalization of Sex Work
More funding for services
History include:
Sex Workers leading the Queer rights movement in this country: both cis (male hustlers) and TGNC identified Sex Worker were on the front lines at Stonewall and in the years directly following the riots. America would not be the country it is today if not for the contributions of SWers.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
To reshape the narrative of Sex Workers not as victims, but rather as an integral part of the fabric up this state and our society. Sex Workers don’t need laws and policies which cast them as victims. Sex Worker's need legislation to provide Sex Workers- even those who are not currently victims of human trafficking-- the support, protections and opportunities to thrive, outside of the shadows.
The Stroll Tour 2022
STARR will host “The Stroll” Walking Tour, June 2nd, International Whore’s Day. The 1 hour tours will visit historic sites and icon locations. Each tour will be led by a current or former Sex Worker. 12 slots available for each tour
