Pride Sunday 2021: The 1st Kids Pride!
STARR, along with FIERCE, hosted the first ever Kids Pride at Pier 46 in NYC. Employees of Brooklyn’s Children Museum assisted in our arts and crafts table, consisting of Marsha Crowns and Make Your Own Mini Parade Float!
This event became one of the largest celebrations in NYC for Pride Sunday 2021. Despite excessive NYPD presence, attendees still found celebration and joy together.
May Day 2021
Part of May Day included Marsha’s Closet, an initiative to distribute community donated clothing to the Trans and Gender Non-conforming people of NYC. Organized by STARR, FIERCE, & affiliates alongside Marsha P. Johnson’s Family. Some of the clothing given away was donated by FX’s tv show, Pose.
On the same day, these organizations illuminated the importance of the movement for decriminalizing sex work.
